To mark the discovery to the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman, which happened on February 28, 1928, National Science Day was celebrated in MAEER’s MIT College of Railway Engineering and Research (MITCORER) with zeal and fervour. Chief Guest for this function was Mr. Vijaysinh Dadas, Workshop Manager, Kurduvadi Railway Workshop, Central Railway. Along with him, Dr. Atul Ayare, Principal MITCORER; Dr. Ajam Shaikh and Prof. Ratnakar Sakhare, Science Day Co-ordinators, were present on the dais. The auspicious lamp was lighted to mark the beginning of the program at the hands of Mr. Dadas and Dr. Ayare, followed by the World Peace Prayer. In his welcome note, Dr. Ayare explained MIT’s intention behind starting College of Railway Engineering and Research and its futuristic vision to facilitate a one-stop solution to all railway related challenges. He also spoke about the vast job opportunities that lay ahead after graduating from the college. The Chief Guest was felicitated and introduced by Prof. Ratnakar Sakhare. This year, the Science Day celebration theme was ‘Science and technology for sustainable future’. In continuation with the theme, Mr. Dadas motivated the students on the general aspects of science and its application to technology and sustainable development. He also emphasized on the efforts to be taken for daily usage of renewable energy sources. He advised students to plan their activities for better time management to be successful in life. Certificates were distributed to the participants of 'Google forms and QR code workshop' held in the morning session, by the Chief Guest. The ceremony was compered by Mr. Mohit Lakhara and Mr. Gulshan Kumar Naidu. Technical assistance was offered by Prof. Akhil Saya and Prof. Vishal Nikam. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Vikas Ganiger. All the faculty, non-teaching staff and students were involved and worked for the success of the program.
